Fruit Roll-Up Base
- 1 packet Kool-Aid powder any flavor
- 1 cup applesauce unsweetened
- 2 tbsp sugar adjust to taste
- 1 tbsp honey or corn syrup helps with texture
Optional Add-ins
- 0.25 tsp citric acid for extra tanginess
- 1 drop food coloring optional, for more vibrant color
- 0.25 tsp vanilla extract for added flavor
Preheat your oven to the lowest setting, around 170°F (77°C).
In a mixing bowl, combine the applesauce, Kool-Aid powder, sugar, and honey or corn syrup. Add any optional ingredients if using. Mix until smooth.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Spread the fruit mixture evenly onto the lined baking sheet to about 1/8 inch thick, using an offset spatula or the back of a spoon.
Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 4-6 hours, checking occasionally. The fruit leather is done when it is no longer sticky to the touch.
Remove from the oven and let cool completely.
Cut the cooled fruit leather into strips using scissors or a pizza cutter.
Roll up each strip with parchment paper and store in an airtight container.
